XEOMIN
Frown lines form when facial muscles under the skin contract to create expressions. As your skin ages, these repetitive expressions result in lasting frown lines. Xeomin is a neurotoxin which blocks chemicals causing muscle contractions from being released. This prescription medication can help in softening your frown lines when injected directly into the muscle.
Xeomin is used for temporarily reducing the appearance of frown lines (moderate to severe) from between the eyebrows. These are also called glabellar lines in adults. The medication contains botulinum toxin type A. This is a protein purified from clostridium botulinum bacteria.
The Lounge of Beauty Medical Spa, led by Dr. Solomon Laktineh and Agnes Lech, RN provides safe and innovative skin care, body contouring, laser and medical aesthetic treatments to patients in Long Beach, Torrance, Huntington Beach, Greater Los Angeles, California, and surrounding communities.
Unique Manufacturing Process
Xeomin is manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility using precision manufacturing process. Therapeutic component is isolated from the molecule. It is then further processed to remove all accessory proteins which don’t have an active role. This process makes Xeomin one of the most purified neurotoxins.
How Does it Work?
The muscles on your forehead right between the eyebrows contract whenever you frown or squint. This causes the skin to fold and furrow. Over time, your skin may lose its elasticity turning these repeated contractions into persistent frown lines.
Botulinum toxin type A acts on the muscle nerve endings to prevent the fibers from contracting. Xeomin reduces muscle contractions which help in temporarily reducing glabellar lines.
Xeomin is Proven, Reliable, and Effective
There have been two randomized, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials involving Xeomin. 547 healthy adult patients with an average age of 46 years participated in the two trials. Patients were provided with 20 units of Xeomin. Both trials reported high success rates. These trials formed the basis of Xeomin receiving FDA approval in 2011 to reduce glabellar lines.
Candidates for Xeomin
Xeomin is recommended for adult patients with moderate to severe frown lines between their eyebrows. Patients allergic to botulinum toxin type A or other ingredients in Xeomin do not make suitable candidates. You should speak with your doctor about the various advantages and risks of the treatment. Xeomin is not recommended for patients with any type of skin infection at the injection site.
Xeomin Treatment Procedure and Results
Xeomin treatment doesn’t take more than 10 to 20 minutes. Your doctor will inject the prescription medication directly into the muscle between your eyebrows that cause frown lines. You will not be given any anesthesia. However, your physician may use a cold pack or topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort.
Visible smoothing of the frown lines may occur as early as 3 to 4 days after the treatment. Most patients notice visible results in the first week. However, full effects can take up to 30 days to manifest completely. Clinical trials reported results to last for as long as 3 months. However, this can be shorter or longer depending on your unique circumstances.
